The ICAS search for upcoming talent is almost complete for another year. The judges have whittled down scores of high-quality entries to find the 35 CAs, aged 35 or under, who are setting the pace for others in the profession to follow, be that in the field of technology, social value, ethics or diversity and inclusion.
The individual category winners will be announced at a special event on 4 June in London, along with the overall winner. You’ll be able to read about that in our July/August issue – but for now, here are the CA Rising Stars 2026
President David Cruickshank CA
Welcome to the final 35 CA Rising Stars of 2026. As with last year’s competition, the entries were once again of an exceptionally high standard.
I had the honour of being one of the judges tasked with selecting the final 35. I say “task”, but it was actually a pleasure to deliberate with my fellow judges – David Wilson CA, of the ICAS Members Board; Cat Devaney CA, ICAS Executive Director of Learning; Amjad Hassan CA, the 2020 One Young CA winner; and Eryn Paterson CA, who attended the One Young World Summit in 2024.
As ICAS’ new President, I have been provided with a wonderful snapshot of what these members, all aged 35 or under, are achieving post-qualification.
Hopefully I speak for us all when I say that reading through the submissions that accompanied this year’s entries, you get a real sense of the pace of change across business and professional life right now – the fastest I’ve ever seen. The entries almost read like a Financial Times feature outlining how the profession is being transformed.
These CAs are using their qualification as a platform not only to forge a successful career across a diverse range of roles and sectors; they are also deploying their skills and talent to make a positive impact beyond the workplace. They are CAs with a sense of purpose.
Inevitably, for everyone who made the 35, there was more than one who didn’t quite make the cut this year. But I would strongly encourage them to apply next year because we could already see many are on the cusp of bigger and better things. And who knows: the rate of evolution within the profession means this year’s niche specialist skill may be next year’s zeitgeist.
On 4 June, our awards ceremony at the Oxo Tower, London, will see us announce our four category winners, as well as the overall winner who will represent ICAS and Chartered Accountants Worldwide at the One Young World Summit in Cape Town in November.
I will be at the London event myself – the final is combined with a Meet the President evening – and I hope as many as possible of the top 35 will be in attendance. Having read about them – some in their own words; others via the submissions of those who nominated them – I can think of no better way to start my presidency than to congratulate this impressive group of CAs in person.
