Design the CA magazine cover

This year we celebrate our 170th birthday – making us the oldest accountancy professional body in the world. To mark the occasion, we’ve launched a competition aimed at teaching school pupils about the opportunities that come with a career in chartered accountancy.

We’re asking pupils to get creative and design the front cover for our award-winning digital CA magazine and win vouchers for their school.

About the competition
We’d like schools across the country to create designs in response to the question: What themes are important for creating a better world for you to grow up in? The overall winning design will feature on the front cover of the December 2024/January 2025 issue of CA magazine.

Themes for your design
We want designs to reflect themes that are important for creating a better world for young people to grow up in.

Sustainability: Caring for our planet and its people.
Technology: Using technology in the right way to improve our lives.
Fairness in business: Promoting fairness and ethics in business.

We want entrants to be bold and creative and to have fun with their design.

Prizes
• The overall winner will win £500 worth of vouchers for their school.
• The two remaining category winners chosen will each receive £250 worth of vouchers for their schools.
(The winning schools will have a selection of vouchers to choose from.)

CA Conversations

Do you want to help shape the future of accountancy? As part of the Shaping the Profession programme, ICAS has carried out focus groups with members of the public to identify what society needs and wants from the accountancy profession, both today and in the future. Now we want to hear what you, our members, think.

Join us for a unique opportunity to share your own views on this future-facing topic and be among the first to discover the findings from this research.

The sessions, to be held in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and London in August and September, will bring together CA peers to engage in fascinating conversations about the role and perceptions of the profession. You will be able to choose from a range of topics, outlined below. You’ll also have a chance to voice your perspective on emerging challenges, trends and opportunities – from AI to regulation.

Be a leading representative of the ICAS membership base and play your part in ensuring the longevity of our profession by registering your interest.

What are the conversation topics?
• The trust landscape: This conversation will explore how “trust” is defined, the role of trusted advisers/information sources, trust and ethical leadership in the profession, and the extent to which accountants can help to build trust.
Perceptions of accountancy: This conversation will explore different attitudes and perceptions of the accountancy profession, and the role accountants play in society.
Pain points and challenges: This conversation will explore the internal and external “pain points” or challenges that the profession needs to consider, now and in the future.

ICAS at Pride

As ethical leaders, we place equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of everything we do at ICAS. We have a responsibility to our members, students and colleagues to not only be at the forefront of the change we want to see in our profession, but also to show that ICAS is an accepting space for all.

We were therefore proud to don our ICAS Pride T-shirts and march alongside the LGBTQ+ community at the Edinburgh Pride march in June.

Pride is a powerful celebration that embraces diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions, signifying a movement towards equality, acceptance and inclusion. We will continue to be proud allies and work hard to support our members, students and colleagues from the LGBTQ+ community, showing that within our profession everyone can be their authentic selves.
